They settled in the Printer's Row neighborhood of Chicago.
He restarted painting to balance his life with Corporate America. He would come back home late at night and paint until dawn. He produced over 150 paintings in a few-year period.
During his Chicago days, he would use vivid colors, which is quite a contrast to how he paints now in New York. His subjects were mostly non-Japanese. Living in midwest, he hardly traveled to Japan, nor did he think about his motherland.
Only years after he relocated himself in New York. he started to feel urges to paint Japan and its people.
