He paints mostly Japanese male figures these days, a reflection of himself..  On the other hand, his drawings cover both male and female subjects.

Many of the live models were from his days in Chicago.  And, many of the female  models were art students on the "thinner" side .  He did not make the models rounder as a perfect subject to sketch.  Some of his drawings of female bodies show little roundness.  He paid homage to each model and intended to be truthful to what he saw. 

He seldom draws or paints human bodies covered with clothes.  He would otherwise feel that he would be obligated to paint the clothes rather than the person underneath.  There is a truth below the fabic.
